Shruti Haasan Responds to Plastic Surgery Criticism: This is My Choice

Shruti Haasan, an outspoken actor and musician, recently addressed the scrutiny she has faced for openly acknowledging her use of cosmetic procedures. While cosmetic enhancements remain a taboo subject in the entertainment industry, Haasan did not shy away from discussing the criticism directed at her.

Haasan recounted how her honesty about undergoing cosmetic procedures led to harsh remarks, including being called “plastic surgery ki dukaan” (a plastic surgery shop). However, Haasan made it clear that she is fully aware of her choices and the extent to which she has altered her appearance. “But I know what and how much I have done, and how much more others have. That’s the price you pay for honesty. It is okay. And I never promote it. This is my choice,” Haasan said, adding that her decisions were personal and not meant to influence others.

Haasan also spoke about the double standards that women face when it comes to beauty and authenticity in the entertainment world. She emphasized that the choices she makes are deeply personal and not intended to set an example for anyone else. “In love, in life, in work, fingers will always be pointed at you for blowing the whistle or speaking the truth or calling something out for what it is. But what a good price to pay,” Haasan said.

Despite the criticism, Haasan's career is on an upward trajectory. She is currently basking in the success of her latest film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film, which features Rajinikanth in the lead role, has become one of the highest-grossing Tamil blockbusters of the year, grossing over Rs 400 crore worldwide since its release on August 14. In addition to Haasan and Rajinikanth, Coolie also stars an ensemble cast including Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Rachita Ram, Upendra, and Aamir Khan, making it a massive success at the box office.
