GHMC Notices To Annapurna And Ramanaidu Studios Spark Big Debate In Tollywood

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has issued unexpected notices to two of Telugu cinema’s most iconic film studios, Annapurna Studios and Ramanaidu Studios. These establishments have been pillars of the industry ever since Telugu cinema shifted from Chennai to Hyderabad decades ago. Annapurna Studios, overseen by the Akkineni family, and Ramanaidu Studios, managed by the Daggubati family, have supported thousands of film, TV, and advertising shoots over the years. Their contribution to Tollywood’s growth is considered monumental, making the recent notices a surprising development.

According to GHMC’s assessment, Annapurna Studios has been utilizing approximately 1,92,000 sq. ft. of space but has been paying trade license fees for only 81,000 sq. ft. Officials state that the studio should be paying around Rs 11,52,000 but is currently paying just Rs 49,000. This significant mismatch has prompted authorities to demand an explanation. Similarly, Ramanaidu Studios has also been flagged for underpayment. GHMC notes that the studio should be paying Rs 2,73,000 but has allegedly been paying only Rs 76,000. Both studios have been asked to submit detailed responses and clarify their calculations.

The sudden issuance of notices has created discussion within the film fraternity, as these two studios have long been known for their legacy and contribution to the growth of Telugu cinema. Many await how the Akkineni and Daggubati managements will address the GHMC’s claims. While the matter is still under review, the notices have undoubtedly triggered curiosity and debate across the industry.
