Paranormal Activity 8 Announced With James Wan As Producer For The First Time

The highly popular Paranormal Activity franchise is set to return with a new film currently in development. Paranormal Activity 8 brings an exciting collaboration as James Wan joins the project as producer for the first time, teaming up with long-time franchise figure Jason Blum. Backed by Blumhouse-Atomic Monster and Paramount Pictures, the upcoming installment aims to revitalize one of the most influential found-footage horror franchises in cinema. Oren Peli, the creator of the original 2007 film, will also come onboard as producer, adding further significance to this revival.

The announcement comes after the merger between Atomic Monster and Blumhouse, two powerhouses of the horror genre. Paramount Pictures executives Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg expressed their excitement, noting that the partnership promises a thrilling new phase for Paranormal Activity. Wan, known for landmark horror films such as The Conjuring, Insidious, and Saw, shared his admiration for the original movie, praising its subtle and terrifying approach. Jason Blum highlighted how this project aligns perfectly with the vision behind the merger, promising to actively shape the next era of the franchise.

The original Paranormal Activity became a cultural phenomenon, made on a modest $15,000 budget and ultimately grossing over $194 million worldwide. The franchise has since grown to seven films including Paranormal Activity 2, Paranormal Activity 3, Paranormal Activity 4, The Marked Ones, The Ghost Dimension, and Next of Kin. The eighth film is expected to return to the grounded found-footage style that made the series famous, while also evolving it for newer audiences. Steven Schneider will executive produce under Room 101, Inc, with Michael Clear and Judson Scott joining from Blumhouse-Atomic Monster, and oversight by Alayna Glasthal.

With Wan and Blum combining creative forces, anticipation is building for what could be one of the most talked-about horror projects ahead. Fans of supernatural thrillers will be watching closely as Paranormal Activity 8 moves into development and promises to deliver both nostalgia and a fresh vision for the iconic franchise.
