Team Ikkis shared a heart-touching behind-the-scenes message from Dharmendra on December 8, marking what would have been the legendary actor's 90th birthday. In the video clip, described now as his final on-set message, Dharmendra with his gentle smile and warmth says, "India and Pakistan must see the film." The message was shared as a tribute just weeks after the actor's passing on November 24 at the age of 89. Directed by Sriram Raghavan, Ikkis stars Agastya Nanda and features Dharmendra in his last on-screen role, making the moment even more emotionally significant for fans and the film industry.
In the tribute video, Dharmendra expresses gratitude to Maddock Films and Raghavan, saying he is happy to be part of the project. He speaks about the film being made beautifully and conveys love to the cast and crew. His humble words, "If I have made any mistake in saying anything, please forgive me," left many emotional, highlighting the humility that defined his six-decade career. The upcoming film, set for release on December 25, narrates the story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, one of India's youngest Param Vir Chakra awardees who sacrificed his life in the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Dharmendra plays the older Khetarpal, bringing depth and legacy to the narrative.
Ikkis has already created buzz for its storyline and also for introducing new talents. Agastya Nanda, grandson of Amitabh Bachchan, and Simar Bhatia, niece of Akshay Kumar, are making their debut and have spoken about the guidance received from their families. The film also stars Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Raaz, adding power to the ensemble. Maddock Films shared the tribute captioned, "To nine decades of an icon who showed us that real greatness begins with humility," a fitting farewell to one of Indian cinema’s most loved stars. As Ikkis approaches its theatrical release, the message shared stands not just as promotion but as an emotional farewell. Dharmendra is survived by Prakash Kaur, Hema Malini, and six children, leaving behind an unforgettable legacy in Indian cinema.
