Actor Bhavana is all set to make her Malayalam cinema comeback with the sci-fi thriller Anomie, scheduled for release on January 30, 2026. Ahead of the film’s release, the actor opened up about her long absence from Malayalam cinema and addressed rumours about rejecting films from top stars like Mammootty and Prithviraj. In an interview, Bhavana clarified that her decision to step away was not driven by career strategy or industry pressure, but was entirely personal and spontaneous. She explained that she suddenly felt the need to distance herself from Malayalam films and found peace in making that choice without overthinking its impact.
Bhavana revealed that she continued receiving several prestigious offers during her break, including projects involving filmmakers and actors such as Aashiq Abu, Prithviraj, Jayasurya and even a Mammootty film. However, she declined all of them without a specific reason. According to her, she simply felt emotionally comfortable staying away at that time. She shared that she did not feel any regret about rejecting those opportunities, as she was content focusing on Kannada cinema, spending time at home, and living in her personal comfort zone. The actor emphasised that her choices were guided more by inner peace than professional ambition.
Bhavana now returns with Anomie, directed by Riyas Marath, where she plays the lead opposite Rahman. The film also features Shebin Benson, Drishya Raghunath and Binu Pappu in important roles. Before this, Bhavana was last seen in the Tamil horror thriller The Door, directed by her brother Jaiiddev and produced by her husband Naveen Rajan. Her previous Malayalam appearance was in Hunt (2024), directed by Shaji Kailas. With Anomie, Bhavana marks a fresh chapter in her Malayalam career, and her honest reflections on her break have resonated strongly with fans who are eager to see her back on the big screen.
