Devara 2 Shoot Starts in May, Producer Confirms Jr NTR Film Is Not Shelved

Amid persistent speculation surrounding the fate of Devara: Part 2, producer Sudhakar Mikkilineni has finally put rumours to rest by confirming that the much-awaited sequel will begin shooting in May. Ever since Devara: Part 1 received mixed critical responses despite strong box office numbers, fans of Jr NTR have been anxious about whether director Koratala Siva’s ambitious project would move forward.

Released in 2024, Devara: Part 1 starred Jr NTR in a dual role as Devara and his son Vara, alongside Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. While the film ended with several unresolved narrative threads clearly setting the stage for a continuation, the lack of updates over the past year led to widespread rumours that the sequel had been quietly shelved. Social media discussions and fan forums were filled with doubts, especially given the industry trend of abandoning underperforming sequels.

Addressing these concerns at a recent public event, Sudhakar Mikkilineni categorically denied reports of shelving the project. He stated that the team is set to begin filming Devara: Part 2 in May and aims for a theatrical release in 2027. Expressing confidence in the sequel, he also hinted that the second part would surpass expectations and emerge as a major success. His statement brought relief to fans, though some remained cautiously optimistic, pointing to past delays and industry unpredictability.

Despite receiving mixed reviews, Devara: Part 1 performed strongly at the global box office, collecting approximately Rs 428 crore. The film’s scale, action sequences, and Jr NTR’s performance were widely discussed, even as opinions remained divided on the screenplay. The sequel was officially announced on the film’s first anniversary, reinforcing the makers’ long-term plans for the franchise.

Apart from Devara 2, Jr NTR continues to stay busy with high-profile projects. He was recently seen in War 2 alongside Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani and is currently working with director Prashanth Neel on a film rumoured to be titled Dragon. With multiple big-budget films in the pipeline, the confirmation of Devara: Part 2 adds to the excitement surrounding the actor’s upcoming slate and reassures fans that the Devara saga is far from over.
