Amitabh Bachchan Hints Ikkis Postponed For Astrology, Not Dhurandhar Clash

Amitabh Bachchan has shared new insight into why filmmaker Sriram Raghavan’s war biopic Ikkis, starring his grandson Agastya Nanda, has been postponed from its earlier December 25 release date. Many believed the decision was taken to avoid a clash with the strong box office run of Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar and the upcoming Christmas release Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri. However, Amitabh suggested there was another reason behind the shift.

Taking to X, he shared a photo of himself holding a T-shirt with the film’s title on it during his weekly fan greeting ritual. His caption revealed a surprising explanation: astrologers advised that the new release date would be more auspicious. His post stated that the film, once set for the twenty-fifth, would now arrive on the first of January 2026, adding that the timing was considered lucky.

Maddock Films confirmed that Ikkis will now release on January 1, 2026. Alongside sharing a new poster featuring Agastya, the production house highlighted the film’s theme of courage and announced that the final trailer will debut in theatres this weekend. The film tells the true story of Second Lt. Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra recipient.

The film marks Agastya Nanda’s first theatrical release following his Netflix debut in The Archies (2023). Dharmendra and Jaideep Ahlawat play key roles in the war drama. Meanwhile, Dhurandhar continues its successful run in theatres with ₹460 crore net in India, and Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri is set to arrive soon.
