Love Story Trailer: JFK Jr & Carolyn Bessette’s Romance in Ryan Murphy’s Series
FX has unveiled the trailer for Love Story: John F Kennedy Jr & Carolyn Bessette, the latest addition to Ryan Murphy's Love Story anthology series. This intimate yet unsettling look at one of America's most scrutinized romances features Paul Anthony Kelly as John F Kennedy Jr and Sarah Pidgeon as Carolyn Bessette. The series traces their relationship, delving into the tensions between their deep love and the crushing weight of global attention.
The trailer sets the stage with romantic and tender moments between the couple before shifting to the intense pressures of fame. The flashing cameras and relentless paparazzi threaten to consume their private life. One poignant moment from the trailer shows Carolyn expressing her struggle, stating, “There’s your world. And then there’s mine.” Later, she confesses her fears about the future, saying, “It’s not a question of if I want to spend the rest of my life with you. It’s a question of if I’m cut out to be Mrs. JFK Jr.”
The portrayal of JFK Jr in the series presents him as American royalty, effortlessly charismatic yet relentlessly watched by the public eye. Meanwhile, Carolyn emerges as fiercely independent and private, grappling with the constant scrutiny as her sense of self starts to unravel under the pressure. The series also touches on her work at Calvin Klein in the 1990s, highlighting her influence on minimalist fashion and how her career and life were overshadowed by her relationship with JFK Jr.
Inspired by Elizabeth Beller's book Once Upon a Time: The Captivating Life of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, the show does not shy away from the tragic events that shaped their legacy. The couple, along with Carolyn’s sister Lauren Bessette, tragically died in a plane crash on July 16, 1999, an event that shocked the world and cemented their place in American cultural history. The series examines not only the romance but also the impact of living a life constantly in the public eye.
The cast also includes Grace Gummer as Caroline Kennedy, Naomi Watts as Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Alessandro Nivola as Calvin Klein, and Constance Zimmer as Ann Marie Messina. Created by Connor Hines and executive produced by Ryan Murphy, Nina Jacobson, and Brad Simpson, the series promises to explore themes of romance, identity, and the cost of fame. Love Story will premiere on February 12, 2026, offering a new and compelling look at one of the most captivating love stories in American history.
