AR Rahman Takes 40 Day Digital Break Ahead Of Ramayana Mega Event

Oscar winning composer A. R. Rahman has taken a 40 day digital break as he intensifies work on the music for Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The temporary withdrawal from social media comes ahead of a major event scheduled for March 2026, where the film’s cast and technical team are expected to be formally unveiled. Rahman reportedly announced the decision during a live concert in Chennai, emphasizing that the move is purely to focus on completing the ambitious score.

The upcoming mythological epic, backed by producer Namit Malhotra, is being mounted as a global cinematic spectacle. Adding to the anticipation is Rahman’s first time collaboration with Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer. The partnership has sparked worldwide curiosity, as the two composers work to reimagine one of India’s most revered epics for an international audience. Rahman has openly described the task as both exciting and daunting, given the cultural and spiritual significance of the Ramayana.

The music team also includes poet Dr Kumar Vishwas, who is contributing to the lyrical and conceptual depth of the soundtrack. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi in key roles, further amplifying expectations around the project.

Industry insiders suggest that Rahman’s digital silence is not a retreat but a calculated move to eliminate distractions before a major milestone for the film. With mounting anticipation and global attention, the composer’s focused approach could shape one of the most significant soundtracks in recent Indian cinema history. As March 2026 approaches, fans eagerly await both the grand reveal event and the musical magic Rahman is preparing behind the scenes.
