Dhurandhar 2 Faces Last-Minute Censor Cuts and Content Delay Ahead of Release
Dhurandhar 2, one of the most anticipated Indian films of the decade, is all set to release in under 24 hours. However, the film’s grand theatrical debut is not without its challenges, as reports of last-minute content delivery delays and censor cuts are starting to make waves in the media.
The film, starring Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar, was expected to have a smooth release, but issues began cropping up regarding the timely delivery of projection content. While the film is set for paid premieres across India and in key global markets, the first half of the film was reported to have been delivered to overseas locations only hours ago, with updates about the second half still pending. The delay in sending physical drives for projection, particularly to the AMC chain in the United States (a major revenue contributor for Indian films), could lead to show cancellations in the region, potentially impacting the film’s opening.
Compounding the situation are the ongoing rumors about censor cuts. The domestic version of Dhurandhar 2 is said to be five minutes shorter than the overseas version. This has led to widespread speculation, but the truth is that the film’s production unit itself sent the trimmed version for the domestic print. Only 34 seconds of violent content were removed for the Indian version, while the rest of the film, which runs for an impressive 3 hours and 49 minutes, remains unchanged.
For a film of such scale and anticipation, these last-minute issues are raising concerns among fans and trade circles alike. A smoother release process and better planning would have been expected for a film that is poised to make history at the box office.
Despite these setbacks, Dhurandhar 2 has already crossed Rs 100 crore in advance bookings worldwide. The film is still expected to set new records at the global box office with its opening, and fans are eagerly awaiting its release. However, it remains to be seen whether these challenges will affect the film’s overall performance in the long run.
