The trailer of Palli Chattambi has created strong buzz, showcasing Tovino Thomas in one of his most intense roles yet. Known for picking content-driven scripts, Tovino appears to be pushing boundaries again with this high-budget period drama. Directed by Dijo Jose Antony, the film is set during the 1950s and 60s and blends historical elements with emotional storytelling. The trailer, released in multiple languages, hints at a powerful narrative rooted in rebellion, identity, and resistance against oppression.
The story unfolds in a village under British rule, where Tovino plays a “Chattambi,” a local rowdy with a complex personality that balances aggression and charm. The opening visuals around an ancient church immediately set a strong cultural and historical tone. The film also explores a romantic angle between Tovino and Kayadu Lohar, adding emotional depth to the intense storyline. As the trailer progresses, it reveals glimpses of British brutality towards villagers, positioning the film as a tale of uprising and survival. The transformation of Tovino Thomas, both physically and emotionally, stands out as one of the biggest highlights.
Adding further weight to the film is its strong technical execution. The background score by Jakes Bejoy amplifies the tension and elevates key moments in the trailer. Produced by Noufal, Brijesh, and Chanakya Chaitanya Charan under Worldwide Films and C Cube Bros Entertainments, the film is mounted on a grand scale. With its multilingual release planned across Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada on April 10, Palli Chattambi is clearly aiming for a pan-Indian reach. If the trailer is any indication, the film could emerge as a gripping period action drama that resonates with audiences looking for powerful storytelling and strong performances.
