In an exciting turn of events, the upcoming film Jana Nayagan starring Vijay has made waves in cinemas across the South, thanks to a brand new title card that reads, "Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu C. Joseph Vijay in Jana Nayagan." The clips of this title card were shared widely on X, sparking celebrations among fans inside theatres.
The updated title card comes right after Vijay’s political debut, where his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), emerged as the single-largest party in Tamil Nadu’s 234-member Assembly, winning 108 seats. The fans inside theatres were seen cheering, dancing, and celebrating, with many social media users describing the title card as a historic moment. One fan even remarked, "First-ever CM title card for an actor in India," marking a significant connection between Vijay's cinematic persona and his real-life political role.
This update is especially significant for Vijay’s supporters, who had been calling for his new political status to be reflected in his film. Fans were eagerly awaiting this gesture, as it mirrored their own enthusiasm following his electoral victory.
Despite the growing excitement, Jana Nayagan has yet to hit theatres. Originally set to release on January 9, the film's release was delayed, with the makers hoping for a February premiere, but that too didn’t materialize. The Censor Board delayed its clearance, especially due to political references in the film, which led the matter to be referred to the Election Commission after the Model Code of Conduct came into effect on March 15.
Jana Nayagan is directed by H Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions. Alongside Vijay, the film stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Mamitha Baiju. Fans are eagerly awaiting the film, billed as Vijay’s last, and expect it to be a major cinematic event once it hits theatres.
