The actor clarified on Instagram that the traditional married look was part of her character's makeup for the ongoing Queen 2 shoot, the sequel to the 2014 hit Queen. She emphasized that she would not marry in secret and called attention to the misunderstanding that arose from candid set photographs.

Reports suggest the viral images were taken while Kangana was filming around South Mumbai, specifically near Grant Road, where a set resembling the lead character’s home has been constructed for Queen 2. Directed by Vikas Bahl, the sequel is set in India, tracing Rani’s journey of self-discovery after major events in her life. Unlike the original film, actors Rajkummar Rao and Lisa Haydon are reportedly not returning for the sequel, with Bahl casting a new ensemble of theatre actors.
