Yeh Awarapan Song Explores Shivam Pandit’s Grief

The makers of Awarapan 2 have released Yeh Awarapan, the film’s second song following Ve Junoon. Sung by Arijit Singh, the romantic ballad places Emraan Hashmi’s character Shivam Pandit at the centre of a story shaped by grief, loneliness and memories of lost love. Running for more than three minutes, the track presents Shivam as a man struggling to find purpose after suffering a deeply personal loss.

Composed by Amaal Malik and written by Rashmi-Virag, the song follows Shivam as he drives through deserted roads, wanders across barren landscapes and sits alone in dimly lit rooms. He is also seen feeding pigeons, visiting his lover’s grave and turning to alcohol while attempting to numb his emotional pain.

Flashbacks of happier moments with his beloved contrast sharply with his present-day isolation. These memories show the love that once gave Shivam’s life meaning while underlining how completely the loss has changed him.

Arijit Singh Returns to Playback Singing

The release has attracted additional attention because it marks Arijit Singh’s return to playback singing after he announced on January 27 that he would step away from accepting new film assignments. The singer had clarified that he was not quitting music entirely, but the announcement left fans uncertain about when they would hear his voice in another movie soundtrack.

Yeh Awarapan is being presented as one of the emotional pillars of Awarapan 2. Arijit’s restrained vocals complement the film’s themes of heartbreak, loneliness and inner conflict while renewing his long association with Vishesh Films.

The production banner previously collaborated with him on popular songs including Phir Mohabbat from Murder 2, Muskurane from CityLights, the Khamoshiyan title track, the Hamari Adhuri Kahani title track and Pal from Jalebi.

Emraan Hashmi Leads an Intense Music Video

Emraan Hashmi carries the video through a performance built around silence, pain and sudden bursts of anger. The visuals show Shivam drifting through empty spaces before his sorrow gradually transforms into rage.

During the final portion of the video, an injured and heavily intoxicated Shivam lights a cigarette before confronting his enemies in a rain-soaked fight sequence. The dramatic shift suggests that the song is not only exploring his heartbreak but also establishing the emotional motivation behind the film’s action.

The video combines the romantic intensity associated with Emraan Hashmi’s earlier films with darker and more violent imagery. Producer Vishesh Bhatt has reportedly shaped the soundtrack around Shivam Pandit’s emotional world, allowing each song to reveal another layer of the character’s journey.
