Karan Johar is returning to oversee another game of suspicion, strategy and betrayal as The Traitors prepares for its second season. Prime Video has confirmed that the reality competition will premiere on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
The release date was announced through a new promotional video in which Karan revisited several dramatic confrontations and betrayals from the first season. He promised a bigger competition featuring 21 celebrity players and described the upcoming group as a powerful and unpredictable line-up.
The promo brought back memorable clips featuring Uorfi Javed, Apoorva Mukhija, Purav Jha, Elnaaz Norouzi and Ashish Vidyarthi. Karan used his trademark humour to recall the fractured friendships, arguments and unexpected eliminations that made the first season a widely discussed reality show.
The Traitors Season 2 First Contestants Revealed
Mallika Sherawat and Munawar Faruqui have been introduced as the first two confirmed contestants for Season 2. The remaining 19 players are expected to be unveiled gradually as Prime Video expands the promotional campaign.
Karan introduced Mallika with a reference to her popular film Murder, teasing whether she would become one of the players secretly eliminating competitors inside the palace. Her entry is expected to add glamour, confidence and unpredictability to the new season.
Munawar was described as the king of reality shows, reflecting his experience in competitive television formats. His ability to observe people, build alliances and manage confrontations could make him one of the strongest early contenders.
Several additional celebrity names have been linked to the season through media reports, but viewers should wait for official announcements before treating the complete contestant list as confirmed.
The Traitors Season 2 Format And Gameplay
The Traitors is the Indian adaptation of the Dutch reality format De Verraders. The competition divides celebrity participants into two secret groups: Traitors and Innocents.
A small number of contestants are privately selected as Traitors. Each night, they choose an Innocent to eliminate from the game. The Innocents must study behaviour, conversations and alliances to identify the hidden Traitors during roundtable discussions.
Contestants also complete missions to increase the prize fund. The Innocents can win only by removing every Traitor, while a Traitor who survives the final vote may claim the prize. The Indian adaptation is hosted by Karan Johar and produced by BBC Studios India Productions in association with All3Media International.
Season 2 is expected to raise the pressure with more contestants, stronger personalities and complicated alliances. The promo suggests that players will not only compete strategically but will also place friendships and personal emotions at risk.
The Traitors Season 1 Winners And Finale
The first season featured 20 personalities from films, television, sports, comedy and social media. Uorfi Javed and professional poker player Nikita Luther emerged as the joint winners after successfully completing the final phase as Innocents.
Purav Jha and Harsh Gujral were among the remaining Traitors near the end of the competition. Uorfi correctly pushed for another vote after suspecting that a Traitor was still present, helping expose Purav during the decisive round.
Uorfi and Nikita shared prize money of Rs 70.5 lakh. Reports later stated that Uorfi offered her portion to Nikita, adding an emotional conclusion to a season built around distrust and deception.
