Ramayana Trailer Postponed for Global Sony Rollout
The public trailer launch of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has been postponed after the producers entered an international distribution partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment. The trailer was expected to be released digitally on July 24, but producer Namit Malhotra said it would now arrive later through a coordinated worldwide campaign.
The decision does not mean that the trailer has never been screened. Selected guests and members of the film team reportedly watched it during a private Pratham Sankalp presentation in New Delhi. Ramayana was also promoted at San Diego Comic-Con, where Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Nitesh Tiwari and Malhotra discussed the film. However, the planned public and online trailer release was delayed, and a new date has not yet been announced.
Ramayana Trailer Delay Follows Sony Pictures Deal
Malhotra described the Sony Pictures partnership as an important step towards presenting Ramayana on the scale of a major international studio release. Sony Pictures will handle distribution outside India, giving the two-part mythological epic access to a wider theatrical network across global markets.
The film is expected to receive a multilingual worldwide rollout, including a premium English-language version. The producers believe the partnership will help introduce the story’s themes of duty, courage, compassion, sacrifice and righteousness to audiences unfamiliar with the Indian epic.
The makers have not confirmed when the postponed trailer will be released. Reports linking the delay to other events remain speculative because Malhotra’s announcement directly connected the revised launch strategy with the new global distribution arrangement.
Ramayana Global Release Targets Diwali 2026
Ramayana: Part One is scheduled to reach cinemas globally on November 8, 2026, around the Diwali season. The second instalment is planned for 2027. The two films are being positioned as an international cinematic event combining Indian storytelling with large-scale visual effects and global production expertise.
The partnership with Sony Pictures strengthens the project’s international campaign, while Dharma Productions is associated with its distribution strategy in India, according to the information shared by the makers. The revised trailer campaign is expected to align promotions across domestic and overseas markets rather than launching the footage separately.
Ramayana Cast and International Crew
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. Sunny Deol plays Lord Hanuman, while Ravi Dubey appears as Lakshman. The film has been produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.
Academy Award-winning composers A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer are collaborating on the music. The international technical team also includes action specialists Terry Notary and Guy Norris, along with production designers Ramsey Avery and Ravi Bansal.
Ramayana Trailer New Date Awaited
The delay has increased curiosity around the official footage, particularly after clips allegedly recorded at the private Delhi presentation appeared online. The producers reportedly initiated efforts to remove unauthorised footage and encouraged viewers to wait for the official version.
The makers are now expected to announce a fresh trailer date as part of Sony Pictures’ worldwide promotional plan. Until an official update is issued, reports suggesting a specific launch date or attachment to another movie should be treated as unconfirmed.
