Aarti Ravi’s mother, Sujatha Vijayakumar, has denied that her daughter demanded ₹40 lakh every month solely for her personal maintenance. Ravi Mohan later posted a strongly worded Instagram message as the couple’s divorce and financial dispute continued publicly.
Aarti Ravi’s Mother Challenges ₹40 Lakh Narrative
The divorce proceedings involving Tamil actor Ravi Mohan and his estranged wife Aarti Ravi have returned to the spotlight following fresh statements about the reported ₹40 lakh monthly maintenance request. Aarti’s mother and film producer Sujatha Vijayakumar addressed the media and rejected suggestions that her daughter had sought the entire amount exclusively for herself.
Sujatha claimed that the figure represented several combined financial commitments, including outstanding debts, household expenses and the educational requirements of Ravi Mohan and Aarti’s two sons. She alleged that the family had experienced serious financial pressure and had also received notices regarding unpaid dues. These remain claims made by Sujatha during the ongoing dispute and have not been independently established through a publicly available final court judgment.
Aarti Ravi’s Children’s Expenses Enter The Debate
According to Sujatha, a significant part of the disputed amount was connected to the children’s schooling, food, tuition and extracurricular activities. She said Ravi Mohan had enrolled the children in international schools and claimed that their combined annual fees were approximately ₹86 lakh.
Sujatha further stated that the court had directed the actor to meet educational expenses while also providing monthly financial support to Aarti and their children. She maintained that combining these commitments with debts and other costs resulted in the larger figure being discussed publicly. Therefore, she argued, describing it simply as ₹40 lakh in personal maintenance for Aarti was misleading.
Public reports differ slightly over the precise breakdown of the interim order. Some reports state that the Chennai Family Welfare Court rejected the ₹40 lakh request and fixed interim maintenance at ₹3 lakh per month, while other coverage attributes separate payments and educational expenses to the order. As the complete court document has not been widely published, the exact financial directions should be described cautiously.
Aarti Ravi’s Mother Addresses Visitation Rights
Sujatha also denied allegations that Aarti had prevented Ravi Mohan from meeting their sons. She claimed that Aarti had approached the court to facilitate meetings between the actor and the children. Media reports about the interim proceedings indicate that Ravi Mohan received visitation rights while the divorce case remained pending.
The couple’s separation has remained in public view since Ravi Mohan announced it in September 2024 following approximately 15 years of marriage. Since then, the disagreement has expanded beyond the divorce petition to include competing statements about finances, parental access, school expenses and family responsibilities.
Ravi Mohan Responds With Cryptic Instagram Message
Hours after Sujatha’s comments, Ravi Mohan shared a Friendship Day message on Instagram thanking those who had supported him. Without naming Sujatha or directly responding to every allegation, he referred to actions that he believed could amount to contempt of court.
The actor also stated that he, Aarti and their two sons would not be together in the same room again during his lifetime. The strongly worded message added another public dimension to an already sensitive legal and family dispute.
With both sides presenting different accounts, the ₹40 lakh figure should not be treated as a confirmed personal-maintenance award. The proceedings are continuing, and the final legal outcome will depend on future orders and evidence considered by the court.
