Vijay-Sangeetha Divorce Case Ends After Petition Withdrawal

Vijay-Sangeetha Divorce Case Ends After Petition Withdrawal

Sangeetha has withdrawn her divorce petition against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, bringing the current court proceedings to an end. She appeared through video conference before the Chengalpattu Family Court, which accepted her request and disposed of the case.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor C Joseph Vijay’s wife, Sangeetha, has withdrawn the divorce petition she had filed against him, marking a significant development in a case that had drawn widespread attention across Tamil Nadu.

The matter came up before the Chengalpattu Family Court on Friday, August 7, 2026. Sangeetha appeared before the court through video conference and informed it that she did not wish to continue with the divorce proceedings. Following her submission, the court permitted her to withdraw the petition and disposed of the case as withdrawn.

Sangeetha Withdraws Divorce Petition In Chengalpattu Court

According to the court update, Sangeetha formally filed a withdrawal petition and recorded her decision through video conference. Notice was also issued to the respondent’s counsel, who reportedly raised no objection to her request.

The court subsequently accepted the withdrawal and brought the current proceedings to an end. Reports also state that Sangeetha has been given liberty to approach the court with a fresh petition in the future if necessary.

Sangeetha Divorce Case Ends After Virtual Appearance

Sangeetha had approached the family court earlier in 2026 seeking dissolution of her marriage with Vijay. The petition contained allegations concerning their marital relationship, including an alleged extramarital relationship. These remained allegations made in the petition and should not be presented as independently established facts.

The case attracted considerable public attention because Vijay had transitioned from a hugely successful cinema career into full-time politics and went on to become Tamil Nadu Chief Minister. His personal and political life has consequently remained under intense public scrutiny.

Vijay And Sangeetha Reconciliation Speculation Grows

The withdrawal has triggered speculation on social media about whether Vijay and Sangeetha could be moving towards reconciliation. However, neither Vijay nor Sangeetha has issued a public statement confirming that they have reunited or explaining the reasons behind the withdrawal.

Some reports have suggested the possibility of an understanding outside court, but the confirmed development is limited to Sangeetha withdrawing the petition. Any conclusion about the couple’s future relationship would therefore be premature without an official statement.

Sangeetha Withdrawal Leaves Future Options Open

The Chengalpattu Family Court’s decision means the existing divorce case is now closed. Importantly, the court has reportedly allowed Sangeetha the freedom to file a fresh petition later if circumstances require it.

For now, the legal proceedings that had placed Vijay and Sangeetha’s marriage in the spotlight have come to an end. While the development is likely to fuel further discussion among Vijay’s supporters and on social media, there is no official confirmation that the withdrawal represents a marital reconciliation. Until either Vijay or Sangeetha addresses the matter publicly, the court action remains the clearest confirmed update: Sangeetha has withdrawn her divorce petition, and the current case has been disposed of.
