Avengers: Doomsday has reportedly opened global presales 65% ahead of Spider-Man: Brand New Day during its first two days.
Avengers Doomsday Presales Run 65% Ahead of Spider-Man
Avengers: Doomsday is showing strong early box-office momentum, with worldwide general presales reportedly running around 65% ahead of Spider-Man: Brand New Day during the first two days of ticket sales.
The comparison has attracted attention because Spider-Man: Brand New Day has already emerged as one of 2026’s biggest theatrical performers, reportedly crossing $2 billion globally. However, the two films have very different booking windows. Doomsday opened ticket sales roughly four months before its December 18 release, while Spider-Man bookings began much closer to release.
That longer window means the current figures should not be viewed as a direct prediction of opening-weekend performance. Still, the early demand suggests Marvel has succeeded in positioning Doomsday as a major theatrical event months before its arrival.
The film’s premium-format campaign reportedly generated about $16.5 million in ticket sales during its first 24 hours across approximately 1,000 premium large-format locations, strengthening expectations around its big-screen potential.
Avengers Doomsday India Advance Booking Yet to Begin
Advance booking for Avengers: Doomsday has not yet opened in India, meaning there are currently no domestic presale numbers available.
India remains an important market for Marvel, particularly following the reported theatrical performance of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. With Doomsday bringing together major characters from the Avengers, Fantastic Four and X-Men franchises, expectations are high for strong ticket demand when Indian bookings eventually open.
Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is another major attraction. This time, he will appear as Victor von Doom rather than Tony Stark. Chris Evans is also returning, while Joe and Anthony Russo are back as directors after Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The scale of the crossover and the return of familiar Marvel names have helped generate considerable interest well ahead of release.
Avengers Doomsday Faces Dune Part Three on December 18
One of the biggest challenges for Avengers: Doomsday will be its direct theatrical clash with Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three on December 18.
Both films are targeting premium audiences during the Christmas holiday period. Dune: Part Three has an advantage in IMAX after being filmed using IMAX cameras, while Marvel is promoting Doomsday through its Infinity Vision premium-screen strategy.
The competition could therefore extend beyond overall ticket sales to premium screens, ticket pricing and access to high-demand formats. Some limited IMAX screenings for Dune: Part Three have reportedly already attracted strong advance demand.
With two major Hollywood franchises arriving on the same date, the December clash could become one of the year’s most closely watched box-office battles.
Avengers Doomsday Box Office Expectations Rise After Early Demand
The strong opening pace has already triggered speculation about whether Avengers: Doomsday could challenge records for the biggest worldwide opening weekend.
Suggestions of a possible $1 billion global debut remain speculative, particularly because the unusually early booking window makes traditional comparisons difficult. Major blockbusters generally experience their strongest ticket-sales surge closer to release.
What the current numbers do indicate is significant audience interest. Marvel still has several months to release additional trailers, promotional material and character reveals before December 18.
With Spider-Man: Brand New Day reportedly demonstrating continued demand for superhero films and Dune: Part Three building its own premium-format momentum, Avengers: Doomsday is heading toward a highly competitive Christmas box-office season.
