CHENNAI: Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated Jailer 2 is entering the next phase of its promotional campaign, with the makers confirming that the film’s first single will be released on Friday, August 21. A new poster featuring Rajinikanth was unveiled along with the announcement, turning attention toward Anirudh Ravichander’s soundtrack ahead of the film’s theatrical arrival on October 15, 2026.

The first song from Jailer 2 will mark the formal beginning of the sequel’s musical promotions. Anirudh Ravichander, whose soundtrack and background score were major attractions in the original Jailer, has returned to compose music for the second instalment.

Expectations surrounding the album are particularly high following the popularity of tracks associated with the first film, including Hukum. The new single will provide audiences with their first major taste of the sequel’s soundtrack as the makers gradually increase promotions ahead of release.

The Rajinikanth-starrer has completed its principal shooting phase and moved into post-production. Reports in April confirmed that filming had wrapped, with the team shifting attention to editing, visual effects and other finishing work. Later reports also indicated that additional patchwork filming was being considered as director Nelson Dilipkumar worked on strengthening the final version.

The film is now scheduled to reach theatres on October 15, 2026, placing it in the festive-season window. The release date has added to expectations around what is already one of the biggest Tamil cinema releases lined up for the year.
