Aamir Khan reportedly declined an OTT offer worth more than ₹60 crore for Batwara 1947, the Sunny Deol-led Partition drama that opened in cinemas on August 14, 2026. According to entertainment industry reports, Sunny was in favour of accepting the offer, while Aamir wanted to explore a different digital release strategy.

Neither Aamir Khan Productions nor a streaming platform has publicly confirmed the reported ₹60 crore proposal, making the details unofficial at this stage.

Batwara 1947, originally titled Lahore 1947, was officially renamed in June. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan Productions, the film stars Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal and Karan Deol.

Reports claim Sunny Deol wanted the proposed OTT agreement to be accepted because his arrangement with the project reportedly included a share of profits. Aamir, however, is said to have preferred holding back the digital rights in the hope of securing a stronger release model or valuation.

The reported disagreement appears to have remained professional. Aamir and Sunny continued promoting Batwara 1947 together during its theatrical campaign, with no public indication of a personal dispute between them. The exact commercial terms, including Sunny's alleged profit-sharing arrangement, have not been officially disclosed by the makers.
