Deepika Padukone is reportedly in talks to join Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in Ayan Mukerji’s ambitious Brahmastra 2.

Brahmastra 2 appears to be gathering momentum, with reports suggesting that Deepika Padukone could play a major role in the highly anticipated sequel. Director Ayan Mukerji and his team are said to be developing the script, while discussions are reportedly underway with Deepika for the role of Amruta.

Deepika’s possible involvement is expected to significantly raise interest in the second chapter of the Astraverse. The character of Amruta is believed to have an important connection to the larger mythology of the franchise, making her potential casting one of the most closely watched developments surrounding the sequel.

While an official confirmation is still awaited, the possibility of Deepika sharing the Brahmastra universe with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt has already created considerable curiosity among fans.

Ranbir Kapoor is expected to return as Shiva, while reports also suggest that he could portray Dev, one of the most important characters in the second instalment. Alia Bhatt is also expected to reprise her role as Isha.

The sequel is likely to explore the origins and conflicts surrounding Dev and Amruta while expanding the mythology introduced in the first film. Ranbir Kapoor is currently occupied with his major film commitments, including Ramayana. Reports suggest that the actor is expected to complete filming for Ramayana Part 2 by January 2027 before taking a short break.

Brahmastra 2 is then reportedly expected to begin filming around April 2027. The development indicates that the sequel is moving forward despite earlier speculation that the franchise had been delayed or placed on the back burner.

Ayan Mukerji and his team are expected to spend the coming months finalising the screenplay, casting and production plans before cameras begin rolling.

Ranbir Kapoor has one of the busiest upcoming schedules among Bollywood stars. Apart from Brahmastra 2 and the Ramayana films, he also has Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal Park among his major projects.

Managing the shooting and release schedules of these big-budget films will therefore be crucial. Brahmastra 2, in particular, is expected to require extensive filming and post-production because of its fantasy setting and visual effects.

For now, Deepika Padukone’s reported talks for Amruta have added fresh excitement to the project.
