Nagarjuna’s landmark 100th film, tentatively titled King 100, could move from Sankranthi 2027 to December 2026. It may compete with Prabhas’ Fauzi and Balakrishna’s NBK 111 if the reported schedules remain unchanged.

King 100 Reportedly Targets December 2026

Nagarjuna Akkineni’s highly anticipated 100th film is reportedly preparing to enter the December 2026 box-office race. The untitled project, currently known as King 100, was previously expected to reach cinemas during Sankranthi 2027. However, industry reports now suggest that the makers are considering an earlier release to avoid an overcrowded festive calendar.

Directed by Ra. Karthik, the film features Nagarjuna in the lead role. Tabu, Sushmitha Bhat and Aishwarya Rajesh are reportedly playing prominent characters. Expectations surrounding the project are high because it marks a major milestone in Nagarjuna’s career and is expected to be mounted as a commercial entertainer.

No December release date has been officially confirmed. More clarity is expected on August 29, Nagarjuna’s birthday, when the makers are reportedly planning to unveil a special glimpse or major announcement.

If King 100 arrives in December, Nagarjuna could face competition from major films starring Prabhas and Nandamuri Balakrishna. Prabhas’ Fauzi, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, is reportedly targeting the first week of December, with December 3 being discussed as a possible date.

A substantial portion of Fauzi has reportedly been completed, placing the film in a relatively strong position to pursue its proposed release window. However, the date remains subject to the completion of shooting, post-production work and the makers’ official confirmation.

Balakrishna’s NBK 111, directed by Gopichand Malineni, is also said to be targeting December. Reports indicate that Balakrishna may resume shooting in October after recovering from an injury sustained on the sets. The team is reportedly considering December 24, which would position the film for the Christmas holiday period.

The three films would not necessarily open on the same day, but releasing within one month could intensify competition for theatres, premium screens and audience attention.

The reported shift to December appears practical because the Sankranthi 2027 schedule is already crowded. Several notable Telugu films are being discussed for the festival, increasing the possibility of difficult theatre allocation and divided audience interest.

The reported lineup includes Chiranjeevi’s Kaaka, the Anil Ravipudi film starring Venkatesh and Kalyan Ram, and a Ravi Teja project involving Vishnu and director Hasith Goli. The Sreenu Vaitla–Sharwanand film, Sai Durgha Tej’s Sambarala Yeti Gattu and Prasanth Varma’s Maha Kali are also associated with the festive season.

Releasing King 100 in December could provide the makers with more flexibility than joining such a congested Sankranthi race. However, December would not be an easy window either if Fauzi and NBK 111 retain their reported dates. The final outcome will depend on production progress and how distributors coordinate the releases.

Attention is now focused on Nagarjuna’s birthday on August 29. The makers are expected to release the first glimpse and could also reveal the official title and theatrical release date. Until that announcement arrives, King 100’s December plans should be treated as industry speculation rather than a confirmed schedule.

The film has gained additional attention amid a positive period for the Akkineni family. Recent successes connected with Naga Chaitanya’s Thandel and Akhil Akkineni’s Lenin have reportedly added to the celebratory atmosphere surrounding Nagarjuna’s milestone project.

If all three proposed releases proceed as reported, December 2026 could become a major month for Telugu cinema. Prabhas, Balakrishna and Nagarjuna would each bring large fan bases and high-profile productions into the market just weeks before the heavily contested Sankranthi season.
