Bakasura Restaurant : Latest Telugu Movie Review

Bakasura Restaurant : Latest Telugu Movie Review

Plot:
Paramesh (Praveen), a middle-class software employee, lives with his bachelor friends Palli, Vaman, Bharagav, and Sai. To raise funds for their dream restaurant, they start a YouTube channel called Bindas Bachelors. While filming in a haunted house, they accidentally attract the attention of Bakka Suri (Viva Harsha), a ghost obsessed with food. This leads to a series of comedic and spooky encounters, layered with light moral messages.

Overview:
Bakasura Restaurant attempts a quirky blend of supernatural comedy, fantasy, and social undertones. While the concept feels fresh, uneven pacing, inconsistent humour, and underdeveloped execution hold it back from reaching its full potential.

Performances:

  • Praveen: Brings a grounded performance as Paramesh, holding the film together.
  • Viva Harsha: Steals scenes as the food-loving ghost Bakka Suri, delivering comic energy.
  • Phani: Makes good use of limited screen time.
  • Garuda Ram: Well-suited for his role as the graveyard guardian.
  • Supporting cast: Functional but unremarkable.

Technical Aspects:

  • Direction: SJ Shiva shows promise but struggles with tonal consistency and pacing.
  • Cinematography: Bala Saraswathi captures the mood effectively.
  • Editing: Could have been sharper to improve flow.
  • Screenplay: Creative premise, but wavering tone.

Music:
Vikas Badisa’s background score fits the mood but lacks memorability. Songs are passable and don’t elevate the film.

Editing:
Scenes often feel stretched, especially in subplots like the dargah episode. Tighter editing could have made the film more engaging.

Positives:

  • Fresh supernatural-comedy concept.
  • Family-friendly tone.
  • Viva Harsha’s performance.

Negatives:

  • Uneven humour and pacing.
  • Overstretched scenes.
  • Underdeveloped writing.
  • Inconsistent tone between comedy and sentiment.

Analysis:
Bakasura Restaurant has moments of charm and occasional laughs, particularly from Viva Harsha, but inconsistent execution and pacing issues dilute its impact. With tighter writing and editing, it could have stood out as a memorable supernatural comedy.

Bottomline : Missed Opportunity

Rating: 2.5/5
