Ravanasura Review: Ravi Teja's Poorly Presented Thriller

Ravanasura Review: Ravi Teja's Poorly Presented Thriller
  • 07 Apr 2023 01:47 AM

Ravi Teja, Faria Abdullah, Megha Akash, and Poojitha Ponnada starrer, Ravanasura hit the theaters today. Here's our review of the film, which is directed by Sudheer Varma.

Story: Ravi (Ravi Teja) is a criminal lawyer who takes a special interest in a criminal case pertaining to Mega Akash. But he first has to deal with the obligations under his ex-girlfriend, Faria Abdullah who is his superior lawyer. What is the case that Ravi takes up that is so important to him?

How did the actors perform?

Ravi Teja plays a character with a dual shade and he excels in both of them. Needless to say, playing such intense yet mildly entertaining character is like a cakewalk for a seasoned actor like him. He runs the show with a fine performance.

The rest of the cast, including Megha, Poojitha, Faria, and Murali Sharma all play their roles effectively. They all do a fine job at it. The film is powered by fine performances from the cast.

What about the technical finesse?

The director Sudheer Varma is known for presenting simple stories in his own stylish way. He does the same with Ravanasura now which is a slick thriller subject with a hint of entertainment.

The technical finesse is there as we experience a pretty compelling soundtrack and slick visuals. The action shots are on point and the production designing is good. The making values are pretty impressive as well.

Analysis:

Ravanasura is supposedly a slick action thriller with a hint of entertainment in the opening half.

The comedy track is propelled by Hyper Adi in the first half and he does a fine job with his one-liners. The film progresses on a partly entertaining note in the opening half with things taking a serious turn towards the interval.

The interval twist is organic but it doesn't quite thrill the audience to the fullest. A better twist plot could've set up the stage for a good second half.

But sadly, the second half also lacks the punch that is needed to keep the audience hooked. Things progress at a rather slow pace and the climax portion is just about ok to say the least.

Verdict: Ravanasura is a substandard thriller with comedy and it impresses on noether fronts. The thrill element is below par and the comedy turns monotonous after a point. It makes for a below par watch but those who love thrillers might give it a try.
