The Akkineni family once again earned widespread appreciation for its continued commitment to education and social responsibility. Veteran actor Akkineni Nagarjuna made a generous donation of ₹2 crore to ANR College in Gudivada, Andhra Pradesh, marking a significant contribution during the institution’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. The donation will be used primarily to provide scholarships to deserving students, helping them pursue higher education without financial burden.

Nagarjuna attended the event as the chief guest and inaugurated a newly constructed building on the college campus. During his visit, he also paid heartfelt tribute to his father, legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao, who had donated ₹1 lakh to the same college back in 1959. Speaking at the event, Nagarjuna recalled how his father strongly believed in the power of education and supported the future of many individuals, even though he himself did not have the opportunity to receive formal schooling. Nagarjuna highlighted that his father’s values continue to inspire the family’s involvement in educational and charitable initiatives.

The programme was attended by several dignitaries, including Gudivada MLA Venigandla Ramu, along with college officials and faculty members. Founded in 1950, ANR College has played an important role in shaping the academic futures of thousands of students over the decades. The college management expressed deep gratitude to Nagarjuna and the Akkineni family for their generous support, stating that the contribution would make a lasting impact on students from economically weaker backgrounds. The donation stands as a meaningful gesture that not only honours Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s legacy but also reinforces the Akkineni family’s long-standing dedication to education and community development.
