TVK (Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam) general secretary Aadhav Arjuna has apologized to superstar Rajinikanth for his earlier remark regarding the actor's political entry, which led to significant backlash from the actor’s supporters. Arjuna stated that he never intended to belittle Rajinikanth and that his comments had been misunderstood.
Speaking at a TVK meeting in Kolathur, Arjuna clarified that his remark, which suggested that the DMK had a hand in blocking Rajinikanth's political entry, was not meant as an attack on the actor but on the political machinations surrounding him. "I didn't mean to belittle Rajinikanth, who is also a leader to my leader (actor-politician Vijay)," Arjuna explained, offering an open apology for any hurt caused by his words.
Rajinikanth had earlier responded to the accusation, dismissing it as untrue and stating that he was not threatened by the DMK when attempting to enter politics. The actor expressed his gratitude towards those who supported him during the controversy, including political leaders, ministers, and fans.
Arjuna’s comment had sparked outrage, particularly among Rajinikanth's fan base and several political figures, including AIADMK chief Edappadi Palaniswami, Union Minister L Murugan, and BJP leaders. Despite the controversy, Arjuna stood by his belief that his remarks were aimed at highlighting TVK founder Vijay's courage in the face of political pressures, not attacking the superstar personally.
The incident has reignited discussions on the relationship between politics and cinema in Tamil Nadu, particularly the challenges faced by film stars like Rajinikanth when making political decisions. As political tensions rise in the lead-up to state elections, the public's response to such controversies is more critical than ever.
