Coolie Adds New Scenes And Animation As Rajinikanth Celebrates 50 Years In Films

Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Coolie has become one of the most talked-about releases of 2025, not just because it marks his first collaboration with director Lokesh Kanagaraj, but also because it is arriving in a landmark year for the superstar. This year marks Rajinikanth’s 50th year in cinema, and the makers have decided to celebrate the milestone in a special way through the film. Coolie recently received an A certificate from the Censor Board of Film Certification on August 1, something that has not happened for a Rajinikanth film in over three decades. Despite the rarity of such a certification for a film starring the veteran actor, the team decided to retain it, prioritizing the authenticity of the story and the overall cinematic experience they wanted to deliver to audiences.

Originally, the film had a runtime of two hours and forty-nine minutes. However, after the certification process, the makers decided to add some new material to enrich the movie further. These additions included a special animated tribute to Rajinikanth’s 50 years in cinema, which appears in the form of a “RAJNI 50 years” title card running for 25 seconds. The tribute is designed to be a visual celebration of his unmatched career in the Indian film industry. Along with this, new background rap music was included for the introduction of the character Dayal, played by Soubin Shahir. Additional sequences were also added featuring Simon, portrayed by Nagarjuna, as well as more moments with Deva, played by Rajinikanth, and Preethi, portrayed by Shruti Haasan.

The final runtime of Coolie now stands at two hours and fifty minutes after the inclusion of these elements. For many fans, the additions serve as a bonus, not only expanding the narrative but also offering more screen time for key characters. The film features an impressive ensemble cast including Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and several others in pivotal roles. In a surprising and much-hyped casting choice, Aamir Khan will be appearing in an explosive cameo role as the character Daaha, further heightening anticipation for the project.

Coolie has been produced by Sun Pictures and is widely regarded as one of the most awaited Tamil films of the year. The combination of Rajinikanth’s screen presence, Lokesh Kanagaraj’s directorial style, and a powerful star cast has already generated huge buzz across the industry. Fans are eager to witness how the filmmaker blends his trademark narrative style with Rajinikanth’s larger-than-life charisma, and how the tribute to the actor’s golden jubilee in cinema is integrated into the storyline.

While the excitement for Coolie builds up, Rajinikanth is also keeping busy with other commitments. He is currently on a short break from the shooting of Jailer 2, which is being directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The sequel began filming earlier this year and is expected to release in the first half of 2026, giving fans another big project to look forward to. For now, however, all eyes remain on Coolie, which promises to be a grand celebration of Rajinikanth’s career and a cinematic treat for audiences.

With its combination of fresh scenes, extended runtime, star power, and a heartfelt tribute to one of India’s most iconic actors, Coolie is gearing up to be more than just a film — it is set to be an event that celebrates half a century of Rajinikanth’s unmatched legacy in Indian cinema.
