Ray-Ban Meta Glasses Now Support UPI, Hindi & Deepika AI Voice in India

Meta has unveiled a significant India-focused update for its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, introducing three major features tailored for local users: UPI Lite payment support, full Hindi language integration, and an AI voice inspired by Bollywood star Deepika Padukone. These enhancements aim to improve accessibility, boost engagement, and make the glasses more relatable to Indian consumers. As part of Meta’s broader localisation strategy, the update reflects a growing emphasis on cultural and linguistic relevance in global tech.

The most notable update is the integration of UPI Lite, India’s widely used digital payment system, allowing users to make quick, contactless transactions directly from their glasses. This feature is especially relevant in the Indian market, where UPI has become a dominant mode of everyday payments. Combined with full Hindi language support, the glasses now allow for seamless interaction in the user’s preferred language, improving usability for millions of native Hindi speakers who may not be comfortable navigating devices in English.

In a culturally engaging move, Meta has also introduced a new AI voice option based on Deepika Padukone, aiming to add a personal and familiar touch to the smart glasses experience. This addition strengthens user connection by leveraging a voice that resonates deeply with Indian audiences. Together, these features — voice recognition, local payment capabilities, and language accessibility — mark Meta’s most significant localisation push for its wearables in India yet, positioning the Ray-Ban Meta glasses as not just smart, but smartly Indian.
