The Las Vegas Raiders have agreed to terms with veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins, marking a significant move as the team reshapes its roster ahead of the upcoming NFL season. The deal was confirmed on Thursday, April 3, 2026, with Cousins set to receive $20 million in guaranteed money for the 2026 season.
The agreement continues Cousins’ streak of fully guaranteed contracts, now extending into his 11th consecutive season. The deal also includes a two-year club option worth up to $80 million, with a potential total value of $172 million over five years. However, only the initial $20 million is fully guaranteed at this stage.
Cousins, 37, joins a Raiders squad expected to draft a young quarterback later this month, signaling a strategy focused on mentorship and stability. Head coach Klint Kubiak has emphasized the importance of allowing rookie quarterbacks time to develop rather than starting immediately.
The signing reunites Cousins with Kubiak, with whom he previously worked during his time with the Minnesota Vikings. During that period, Cousins delivered consistent performances, including a Pro Bowl season in 2021.
The move follows Cousins’ release from the Atlanta Falcons earlier this year after a mixed tenure. Despite injuries, he finished last season with solid performances, helping close the year with a winning streak.
With over 44,000 passing yards and nearly 300 touchdowns in his career, Cousins brings experience and leadership to a Raiders team looking to balance veteran presence with future potential.
