Tax Day food deals 2026: Freebies and discounts across US restaurants
Restaurants and food chains across the United States are rolling out limited-time promotions on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, to mark Tax Day, offering customers discounts, free items, and value meals designed to ease the financial stress of filing returns.

The annual wave of offers spans fast-food outlets, pizza chains, coffee brands, and delivery platforms, with many promotions available only on Tax Day. The deals typically require app orders, promo codes, or minimum purchases, but collectively cover everything from burgers and tacos to desserts and beverages.

Among the most widely available offers, Krispy Kreme is giving customers a free Original Glazed dozen with the purchase of another dozen at regular price using a Tax Break promotion code. Subway is offering a buy-one-get-one footlong deal for rewards members, along with additional surprise coupon rewards for select users.

Fast-food chains are also joining in. Wendy's is providing a free 6-piece nugget order with a $5 app purchase, while Pizza Hut is featuring large three-topping pizzas at a discounted price starting around $10. Popeyes is offering percentage discounts on combo meals and low-cost dessert add-ons for loyalty members.

Sit-down and casual dining brands are also participating. Olive Garden is continuing its “Buy One, Take One” promotion, allowing diners to enjoy an additional meal to go with eligible purchases. Taco and Mexican-inspired chains like Del Taco and QDOBA are offering free menu items, bonus rewards points, and discounted entrées.

Delivery and food service platforms are also part of the Tax Day push. Grubhub is offering credit incentives tied to past delivery fees, while pizza and regional chains such as Mountain Mike's Pizza and Capriotti's Sandwich Shop are providing app-based discounts and free upgrades for loyalty members.

Additional promotions include dessert giveaways, discounted barbecue meals from participating regional chains like Dickey's Barbecue Pit, and frozen beverage offers from mobile vendors. Pet food brand Blue Buffalo is also running a limited-time sweepstakes tied to Tax Day.

The growing popularity of Tax Day promotions reflects how restaurants increasingly use April 15 as a national marketing moment, turning a stressful financial deadline into an opportunity for consumer engagement through food deals, rewards, and limited-time offers across the country.
