Neiman Marcus Main and Ervay Store to Close in Downtown Dallas

Neiman Marcus Main and Ervay Store to Close in Downtown Dallas

Neiman Marcus will close its historic downtown Dallas store at Main and Ervay Streets on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, Saks Global said, ending one of the city’s longest-running luxury retail chapters.

The company said the decision follows a review of its store footprint and reflects changing customer demand and shopping patterns in the Dallas market.

Saks Global Confirms Downtown Dallas Closure

Saks Global, which acquired Neiman Marcus at the end of 2024, had previously announced a March 2025 closure plan after disputes with Dallas city leaders over a lease disagreement. The company now says the downtown Dallas closure is final, despite continued conversations with the City of Dallas.

Saks Global said the retail environment downtown remains challenging and that customer traffic at the Main and Ervay store has continued to slow.

NorthPark Center Becomes the Main Dallas Focus

Dallas will remain an important market for Neiman Marcus, but Saks Global said the company will concentrate customer service at its NorthPark Center store. According to the company, the NorthPark business is more than 10 times larger than the downtown location.

Saks Global also said selected elements honoring the history of the downtown store will be brought into the NorthPark location.

Zodiac Room and Bridal Salon Plans

The Zodiac Room, a longtime dining destination connected to the downtown Dallas store, is expected to be among the legacy features incorporated at NorthPark. Saks Global also said it is working on a long-term plan for the Bridal Salon and expects to serve brides from NorthPark after the downtown store closes.

Affected employees will be offered transfer opportunities to nearby locations where possible. Eligible workers may also qualify for separation packages.

A Dallas Retail Landmark Since 1907

The original Neiman Marcus store opened in downtown Dallas on Tuesday, September 10, 1907. After that location was heavily damaged by fire, the business moved in 1914 to its current Main and Ervay Streets address.

The planned closure marks a major change for downtown Dallas retail and shifts the future of Neiman Marcus in the city toward NorthPark Center, while leaving behind more than a century of history at one of Dallas’ best-known retail corners.
