Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu has made a major announcement that has brought fresh hope to Telugu NRIs living across Europe. Speaking during an interaction with Europe’s Telugu diaspora, the minister assured that the central government is actively exploring the possibility of launching direct international flights from Europe to Andhra Pradesh. Proposed destinations include Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and other major cities in South India. If implemented, this move would significantly reduce travel time and eliminate the need for NRIs to depend on connecting routes through Delhi, Mumbai or Gulf countries, making festival and family visits far more convenient.
Apart from international routes, the minister also addressed domestic connectivity issues. He confirmed that early morning flights between Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, which were previously suspended and caused inconvenience to passengers, have now been restored. This decision is expected to benefit business travelers, students and daily commuters who rely heavily on quick inter-city air services. Naidu also reviewed the progress of the Bhogapuram International Airport near Visakhapatnam, which is nearing completion and is expected to become a major aviation hub for the region. Additionally, plans for new airports at Dagadarthi, Kuppam and Palasa are being evaluated, showing strong commitment toward expanding aviation infrastructure in the state.
Direct Europe flights could transform Andhra Pradesh’s global presence. Beyond easing travel for NRIs, improved international connectivity can boost tourism, attract foreign investments, and encourage multinational companies to consider AP as a strategic destination. Better air links also help in faster business movement, cultural exchange, and economic growth. For a state aiming to strengthen its position in India’s development story, aviation connectivity acts as a powerful growth engine.
As Andhra Pradesh continues to expand its airport network and improve air routes, expectations are rising that international travel will soon become simpler, faster and more comfortable. The promise made by Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu reflects a clear vision to connect Andhra Pradesh more strongly with the global Telugu community and the world at large.
