The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has finalized its seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The AIADMK, a key player in the alliance, will contest 178 of the 234 constituencies, while the BJP will contest 27 seats. Other alliance partners include the PMK, which has been allocated 18 seats, and AMMK with 11 seats. AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) expressed confidence that the discussions within the alliance had gone smoothly, confirming the official seat allocation while noting that talks with other parties were still ongoing.
EPS reiterated that the alliance was united and poised for victory, dismissing any speculation about the formation of a coalition government. He also called the NDA a "victory alliance" and asserted that AIADMK would lead the next government in Tamil Nadu. EPS further accused Chief Minister MK Stalin of spreading "slanderous statements" whenever the AIADMK leadership visits Delhi, hinting at political maneuvers to counter the growing influence of the alliance.
BJP Tamil Nadu in-charge, Piyush Goyal, also weighed in on the elections, criticizing the DMK-Congress combine and vowing that Tamil Nadu voters would reject the alliance in favor of the development-focused agenda led by AIADMK and the BJP. Goyal highlighted the need for good governance and promised a bright future for Tamil Nadu under the NDA’s leadership, citing the success of similar coalitions in other states.
The elections, scheduled for April 23, 2026, will see Tamil Nadu's 234 Assembly seats contested, with elections in Puducherry taking place on April 9. As the political campaign heats up, the NDA’s strategy and alliance dynamics will be closely scrutinized by voters and analysts alike.
