The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District is inviting residents to join its free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training Academy this September. The 27-hour multi-day program is designed to teach practical skills that can save lives during disasters. Participants will learn fire safety, medical triage, light search and rescue, disaster preparedness, and team organization techniques that can be applied in real emergencies.

Graduates of the program will be sworn in as Disaster Service Worker Volunteers, officially recognized to support emergency crews when disasters strike. They also gain the opportunity to stay engaged with ongoing CERT training sessions and community preparedness activities. The program ensures volunteers are prepared not only to protect their own families but also to assist neighbors during critical situations.

Dates, Location, And Eligibility

The upcoming CERT classes will be held on September 20, 21, and 27, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District headquarters located at 2401 Crow Canyon Road, Suite A, San Ramon. By completing the program, residents become part of a trusted volunteer network equipped with essential skills to help their community. The State of California also provides workers' compensation insurance coverage for sworn Disaster Service Worker Volunteers who may be injured while performing assigned duties.
