The University of Mumbai has launched an inquiry into the alleged leak of three question papers from its third-year BCom examinations conducted between April 10 and 15. University officials confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and details are being kept confidential. They stated that strict action will be taken in accordance with rules if any individual is found guilty of involvement in the leak.
The issue came to light after students approached the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), urging the student body to intervene. Following this, a university squad visited R D National College in Bandra on April 15 during the taxation exam. Authorities questioned a student and examined his mobile phone, which reportedly led them to several others. Multiple devices were collected for further investigation as officials traced messages and digital evidence linked to the case.
Sources indicated that answers to certain questions were circulating on social media groups before the exam, raising concerns about a wider breach. Despite identifying some students based on these leads, authorities allowed them to complete their exams. Meanwhile, ABVP representatives have alleged that papers of subjects including taxation, economics, and commerce were leaked in advance and have called for criminal action. Allegations of attempts to suppress the issue have also surfaced, though the college administration has not officially responded.
