The NEET 2026 paper leak case has taken a dramatic turn with investigators now focusing on the involvement of two brothers from Rajasthan and a doctor in Gurugram. The two brothers, Mangilal and Dinesh Biwal, are alleged to have purchased the NEET UG exam paper from a Gurugram doctor for a whopping Rs 30 lakh on April 26, a week before the examination. The paper was initially passed to one of the brother's sons in Sikar, a city in Rajasthan, who then reportedly sold it to various aspirants.
The leak quickly spread across Sikar, which has now emerged as a key hub in this exam leak network. The paper was then circulated further by Rakesh Kumar Mandawaria, an MBBS counselling agent in Sikar, who allegedly sold the paper for Rs 30,000 to a student from Sikar pursuing MBBS in Kerala. In a shocking twist, the student sent the leaked paper to his father, a PG operator in Sikar, the day before the exam. This father then allegedly distributed it to female students residing in a local hostel, causing further unrest in the region.
Authorities now believe that the leak may have originated from the Nashik printing press, passing through a chain network before reaching the Gurugram doctor. While the Gurugram doctor is a central figure in this case, Dr. Rajesh Kataria, the president of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) in Gurugram, stated that no medical body had been contacted by any investigating agency regarding this doctor’s involvement.
In addition to the brothers, Dinesh Biwal has been linked to a political party, which adds another layer of complexity to the case. Investigators have also found that the suspects had been aware of the paper leak well in advance. Sikar's coaching operators and students reportedly formed secret WhatsApp and Telegram groups to share the leaked paper, which later spread to states like Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar, Kerala, and Uttarakhand.
As the case continues, the CBI has registered a case under multiple sections, including criminal conspiracy, theft, and breach of trust. The CBI is currently leading the investigation, with special teams dispatched to various locations. Meanwhile, the NEET UG 2026 exam, originally scheduled for May 3, has been cancelled, and the National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that fresh dates will be shared soon. Students across the country are outraged, questioning the competence of the NTA and demanding that AIIMS-Delhi conduct the re-exam. This exam scandal reveals how deeply the leak permeated multiple layers of society, from medical coaching centers to the political sphere, posing a significant threat to the integrity of academic admissions.
