Parents and students, along with the district unit of the All India Democratic Students Organisation, staged a protest in front of a government primary school at Sangolgi (C) village in Aland taluk of Kalaburagi district on Monday, June 15, 2026, demanding immediate safety measures and construction of a new school building.
The protest was held after a portion of the ceiling plaster of a classroom collapsed on Sunday, June 14, 2026. The incident has created concern among parents and students over the safety of the school building.
Parents Demand New Building
Parents said students should not be made to study in classrooms where the roof and ceiling are unsafe. They demanded that the authorities take quick action and begin work on a new building instead of depending only on temporary repairs.
The protesters said the issue is directly connected to the safety of children studying in government schools. They urged the Education Department and district administration to inspect the building and take a clear decision without delay.
AIDSO Joins Protest
Members of the All India Democratic Students Organisation’s district unit joined the protest and supported the demand for a safe school building. They said the ceiling collapse should be treated as a warning and not as a routine maintenance issue.
The organisation also called for proper inspection of school buildings in rural areas of Kalaburagi district, especially where students continue to attend classes in old or weak structures.
School Safety Concerns In Focus
The incident has raised wider concerns about the condition of government school buildings in Karnataka. Parents said classroom safety should be checked regularly so that such incidents do not put students at risk.
They also said that rural schools need timely maintenance and proper infrastructure support, as many children depend on government schools for education.
Demand For Immediate Action
The protesters demanded immediate safety measures at the Sangolgi (C) village school and urged officials to make alternative arrangements if the existing classrooms are not safe.
They also appealed to the government to approve construction of a new school building at the earliest. Parents said students should be able to continue their education in a safe and fear-free environment.
Need For Structural Audit
The ceiling plaster collapse at the Sangolgi government primary school has highlighted the need for a proper structural audit of school buildings in Kalaburagi district.
A full safety inspection, urgent repair work and long-term planning for a new building can help restore confidence among students, parents and teachers.
