India tourist visas for Bangladeshi citizens will resume on Sunday, June 28, 2026, reopening a major travel channel after a suspension of nearly two years. India’s new High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Dinesh Trivedi, announced the change after formally assuming office in Dhaka.

Trivedi presented his credentials to Bangladeshi President Mohammed Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban on Thursday, June 25, 2026. He later visited the Indian Visa Application Centre in Dhaka, where he said normal tourist visa applications could be submitted beginning June 28.

The reopening will allow Bangladeshi nationals to apply for visas to visit India for tourism, family visits and other purposes permitted under the tourist visa category.

Where Indian Visa Applications Will Be Accepted

Visa services are available through five centers in Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Khulna and Sylhet.

Medical visas and other urgent applications will continue to receive consideration on humanitarian grounds. Applicants should verify current document, appointment and eligibility requirements through official Indian visa channels before making travel arrangements.
