Story of Lord Vinayaka

The story of Lord Ganesha’s birth is one of the most cherished legends in Hindu mythology. It is filled with devotion, divine symbolism, and timeless lessons of wisdom.

According to the scriptures, Goddess Parvati once created a young boy out of sandalwood paste from her body. She breathed life into him and asked him to guard the entrance while she bathed. When Lord Shiva returned home, the boy, unaware of who Shiva was, refused to let him enter. Angered by this defiance, Shiva struck the boy and beheaded him. When Parvati saw this, she was overcome with grief and demanded that her son be brought back to life. To console her, Shiva instructed his followers to find the head of the first living being they came across, which happened to be an elephant calf. The head was placed on the boy’s body, reviving him as Ganesha. From that moment, Lord Ganesha was blessed to be worshipped before all deities and became known as the remover of obstacles.

Another well-loved story highlights Ganesha’s wisdom and devotion. Once, a divine fruit symbolizing knowledge and immortality was presented to Lord Shiva and Parvati. They decided to give it to one of their sons, Ganesha or Kartikeya, with the condition that whoever circled the world three times first would win it. Kartikeya immediately mounted his peacock and set off to circle the earth. Ganesha, however, simply walked around his parents three times, declaring that for him, they represented the entire world. Impressed by his intelligence and devotion, Shiva and Parvati awarded Ganesha the fruit. This tale established Ganesha as the god of wisdom and deep faith.
