Spotify has released its Wrapped list for 2025, offering detailed insight into India’s most-streamed artists, songs and albums over the past year. The data shows a mix of consistent favourites, resurgent classics and the accelerating influence of independent musicians and podcasts on the country’s listening habits. Arijit Singh continued his long-standing dominance as India’s most-streamed artist for the seventh year in a row. Pritam and Shreya Ghoshal followed in second and third place, reflecting a sustained preference for familiar voices in the mainstream music landscape. The top tier also included AR Rahman, Anirudh Ravichander, Sachin-Jigar, Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan, Tanishk Bagchi and Masoom Sharma, illustrating that Bollywood music remains deeply rooted in national listening behaviour.
In the category of most-streamed songs, Raanjhan by Sachet-Parampara from the film Do Patti registered more than 246 million streams, securing its position at the top of the chart. The title track from Saiyaara, performed by Faheem Abdullah and Arslan Nizami, ranked third, while Faheem’s Ishq placed fifth, suggesting that listeners gravitated toward emotionally resonant tracks this year. Apna Bana Le by Arijit Singh and Tere Bina by AR Rahman also appeared among the top selections, reinforcing the ongoing popularity of film-based music despite increasing diversity in the audio space.
The albums chart provided notable surprises as several older soundtracks saw renewed engagement. The soundtrack for Saiyaara led the list, while Aashiqui 2, released more than a decade ago, secured the second spot. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, another long-standing favourite, also returned to the top ten. The connection between Aashiqui 2 and Saiyaara, often seen by fans as spiritually linked, may have contributed to their continued resonance. The presence of these albums signals that nostalgia-driven listening remains a powerful force, coexisting with attention to contemporary releases.
Independent music made significant strides in 2025. Faheem’s album Lost and Found entered the top ten, reflecting increasing acceptance and enthusiasm for non-film music. Karan Aujla’s P-Pop Culture further demonstrated the expanding reach of independent artists who are now competing alongside established film-based performers. This shift indicates a growing openness among Indian audiences to explore varied musical styles beyond the traditional industry framework.
Podcasts also registered heightened engagement. Raj Shamani led the podcast rankings nationally, while two versions of The Ranveer Allahbadia Show—Hindi and English—secured fourth and fifth positions. This diversification in audio consumption underscores an evolving listener base that is no longer confined to music alone, instead seeking a broader range of discussions, interviews and storytelling formats.
Overall, Spotify’s 2025 Wrapped list highlights a dynamic year for India’s audio landscape. While Bollywood artists and long-standing soundtracks continue to anchor national listening trends, the rise of independent music and the increasing popularity of podcasts mark an important evolution. The data suggests that Indian listeners are embracing both established icons and emerging talent, balancing nostalgia with discovery as they shape a more expansive musical culture across the country.
