Naidu Announces Rs 50 Crore Honorarium Gift to Pastors Ahead of Christmas

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced a major financial support initiative for pastors across the state, declaring that Rs 50 crore will be credited directly into their bank accounts on December 24. The announcement was made during the Semi Christmas celebrations organised by the Andhra Pradesh State Government in Vijayawada, marking a significant pre-Christmas gesture towards the Christian community.

Addressing the gathering, Chandrababu Naidu said the coalition government remains committed to inclusive governance and the welfare of all religious communities. He stated that financial assistance and social security for religious service providers form an important part of the government’s welfare agenda. According to the Chief Minister, a total of 8,427 pastors across Andhra Pradesh are currently receiving a monthly honorarium of Rs 5,000 under the government-supported scheme.

The Chief Minister explained that the Rs 50 crore amount represents the cumulative honorarium for the period from December 2024 to November 2025 and will be released as a single installment ahead of Christmas. He described the move as a gesture of respect and recognition for the services rendered by pastors in guiding communities and promoting social harmony.

Naidu also highlighted that the government had already disbursed Rs 30 crore between May and November 2024 towards pastor honorariums, demonstrating consistency in fulfilling its welfare commitments. He said these measures are aimed at ensuring dignity, financial stability, and uninterrupted support for those engaged in religious and community service.

Reaffirming his government’s stand, the Chief Minister assured that the coalition administration will continue to support the Christian community through various welfare and development initiatives. He emphasised that social security, financial assistance, and equal respect for all faiths remain central to the government’s policies.

The announcement has drawn attention across political and social circles, especially as it comes just ahead of Christmas celebrations. With the direct bank transfer scheduled for December 24, the initiative is expected to benefit thousands of pastors and reinforce the government’s message of inclusive growth and community support in Andhra Pradesh.
