Baahubali: The Eternal War has taken a major step forward in global animation, earning an official selection for the Work-in-Progress showcase at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Festival. Directed by Ishan Shukla, the ambitious 3D animated film explores a new mythological dimension, following Amarendra Baahubali’s journey in the afterlife. Blending Indian mythology with high fantasy, the story unfolds across 14 mystical realms, centering on an epic cosmic battle between the Devas and the Asuras.
This prestigious selection places the film on a global platform, attracting attention from leading international critics and animation studios. Widely regarded as the “Cannes of animation,” Annecy is one of the most respected festivals in the industry, making this recognition a significant milestone for Indian storytelling. The film has already generated buzz for its rich narrative depth and visually striking animation, which aims to meet global cinematic standards.
Adding to the excitement, Prabhas and Ramya Krishna return as voice actors, with music composed by M. M. Keeravani. Backed by Arka Media Works, the film is reportedly being made on a budget of ₹120 crore, positioning it among India’s most ambitious animated projects. The first installment is expected to release in 2027, and with strong international collaboration, Baahubali: The Eternal War is poised to set new benchmarks for Indian animation on the global stage.
