The investigation into the alleged murder of Ketan Agarwal at Lohagad Fort in Maharashtra has taken significant developments, with Pune Police continuing to examine statements, evidence, and possible conspiracy angles in the case.
According to investigators, the prime accused Siya Goyal allegedly made statements during custodial interrogation suggesting she found it “easier” to end Agarwal’s life than to inform her family about not wanting to proceed with the marriage. Police also claim she expressed discomfort with aspects of Agarwal’s appearance. Authorities, however, have clarified that these statements are part of the ongoing investigation and are being independently verified.
Police further allege that Goyal had previously communicated her unwillingness to marry Agarwal, but tensions escalated when the engagement was not called off. Investigators suspect that she later conspired with co-accused Chetan Chaudhary, with whom she was reportedly in a relationship, to plan the crime. The case is also being examined for possible involvement or awareness of family members.
Alleged Conspiracy and Key Investigation Findings
As part of the probe, police questioned relatives, including Goyal’s brother, to understand whether they were aware of her relationship and the sequence of events leading up to the incident. Investigators also noted that financial and social differences between the families may have contributed to tensions surrounding the marriage arrangement.
Police claim the accused carried out multiple visits to Lohagad Fort before the incident, allegedly identifying isolated locations. One earlier attempt reportedly failed after intervention from Agarwal’s family. Investigators also suspect that the accused maintained communication and coordination prior to the alleged crime, including meetings captured on CCTV footage.
