Rashmika launches Project Annapurna to support 400 families

Rashmika Mandanna has launched Project Annapurna, a grocery-support initiative aimed at helping 400 families across South India manage everyday household expenses. Announcing the effort in a social media video, the actress said she wants families to spend less on essentials and put the money they save toward their future.

Rather than offering one-time assistance, Rashmika plans to support 400 families at a time for three months each, continuing the initiative over the next year. She hopes the temporary relief will give households more room to plan their finances.

Rashmika said she has helped people privately in the past and rarely discussed those efforts publicly. This time, she chose to share the initiative because she believes it might encourage fans to do something similar, even on a smaller scale.

Her message focused on the value of practical help. Covering basic grocery costs, she explained, could free up part of a family's budget for savings and other important needs.

She also spoke about how rewarding it feels to see people benefit from an act of kindness.

The actress has not shared a detailed list of participating families or the total budget for the project. Her announcement outlined the three-month support cycle and her intention to continue it over the coming year.

Ranabaali character Jayamma connects with Rashmika's mission

Rashmika also drew a personal connection between Project Annapurna and Jayamma, the character she plays in her upcoming film Ranabaali opposite Vijay Deverakonda.

She explained that the character reflects a compassionate side of her own personality and shares her belief in helping people through difficult times.

Set in 1870s South India, Ranabaali draws inspiration from the Great Madras Famine of 1876–78.

Vijay Deverakonda plays the titular character, while Rashmika portrays Jayamma, his wife and companion in a story shaped by hardship and British colonial rule.

By making Project Annapurna public, Rashmika hopes to inspire her followers to support people in need.
