RCB Clinches Historic 2nd WPL Title with Record Chase, Beats Delhi by 6 Wickets

In a breathtaking T20 World Premier League 2026 final, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) scripted history by chasing down the highest total ever recorded in a WPL final, clinching their second title in dramatic fashion. Despite Delhi Capitals (DC) posting an imposing total of 203/4, it was RCB’s chase, led by Smriti Mandhana (87 off 41) and Georgia Voll (79 off 54), that stole the show.

RCB’s run chase set the record books ablaze with the highest successful chase in WPL history. Mandhana and Voll put together an astounding 165-run partnership for the second wicket, which became the highest in the tournament’s history. Their blistering onslaught turned the match in RCB’s favour, despite early setbacks when Chinelle Henry removed Grace Harris in the very first over.

Mandhana’s half-century came off just 23 balls, while Voll took 37 balls to reach hers. The duo’s combined brilliance saw RCB race to a century stand in just 58 balls, and by the time Mandhana had taken her team within striking distance of victory, she had also become the fifth player to score 1,000 runs in WPL history.

However, just when it seemed that RCB would cruise to a comfortable victory, Delhi clawed back into the contest. Mandhana was dismissed by Henry in the penultimate over, and RCB were left needing 13 runs from 8 balls, with nerves running high. Radha Yadav’s dropped catch proved to be costly, as she managed to hit two crucial boundaries in the final over to guide RCB home with two balls to spare.

Delhi’s innings was powered by Jemimah Rodrigues, who top-scored with 57 off 37 balls, and Chinelle Henry, who blasted a rapid 35 off 15 balls, ensuring that DC posted their highest-ever total in a WPL final. Despite their efforts, it was RCB’s resilience, coupled with Mandhana and Voll’s superb performances, that clinched the win, making history as the first team to hold both IPL and WPL trophies simultaneously. For Delhi, it was heartbreak yet again as they slumped to their fourth consecutive loss in a WPL final, leaving them to reflect on yet another near-miss in their pursuit of the coveted trophy.
