Dublin Offers $15K Rebate for Building New ADUs

Homeowners looking to build an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) in Dublin now have a golden opportunity to offset construction costs. Thanks to the Senate District 7 ADU Accelerator Program, residents can qualify for rebates of up to $15,000 to encourage small-unit construction and ease the local housing crisis.

How the Rebate Works

The total funding pool of $136,352 is being distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, with incentives varying based on the size and income-based use of the unit. Homeowners can receive:

  • $7,500 for ADUs smaller than 500 square feet

  • $5,000 for units between 501–750 square feet

  • $2,500 for units between 751–1,000 square feet

To qualify, applicants must obtain a building permit and receive a certificate of occupancy within 18 months or by September 30, 2026.

Higher Rebates for Affordable Housing Units

For units deed-restricted to low-income households for at least 20 years, rebates increase significantly:

  • $15,000 for ADUs under 500 square feet

  • $10,000 for 501–750 square feet

  • $5,000 for 751–1,000 square feet

Applications are already open, and funding will be distributed until the deadline or until the total amount is exhausted. Those interested are encouraged to act quickly.
