The Telangana Panchayat elections revealed two major political trends shaping the state’s future. Congress, under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, has solidified its position as the dominant force across the state. With over 52 percent of the seats, the party’s rural and semi-urban appeal has clearly expanded. These results reflect continued voter trust since the 2023 Assembly victory, confirming Congress as the strongest political presence in Telangana.
On the other hand, BRS, despite a series of defeats in recent years, including its loss in the Assembly, by-elections, and MP polls, has shown remarkable rural resilience. Winning nearly 32 percent of the Panchayat seats, the party demonstrated its deep roots in villages and mandals. This suggests that the BRS organization remains strong at the grassroots level and can rebuild momentum if it addresses internal issues and leadership challenges.
BJP, which performed well in the MP elections, could not convert that success into Panchayat strength. Getting only around 5 percent seats, the party still has a long way to extend its presence at village and ward levels. Independents and smaller parties together secured roughly 10 percent, showing that local leadership still plays a decisive role in rural Telangana politics.
