YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, has announced his plan for another padayatra, marking a key step in his political journey. The leader revealed that this padayatra will begin after a gap of one and a half years, emphasizing his desire to reconnect with the public ahead of the 2027 elections. During a meeting at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli, Jagan shared his intentions of spending significant time traveling across the state, engaging directly with the people.
The main aim of this padayatra is to strengthen his bond with the people and party workers after his party’s defeat in the recent elections. Jagan emphasized that he would meet party workers from one Assembly constituency each week to boost the grassroots strength of the YSRCP. This move is part of a broader strategy to prepare for the upcoming elections and to revitalize the party from within. As the government’s current term nears its halfway point, Jagan’s comments underscore his early preparations for the 2027 elections, with a focus on staying close to the people.
While the specifics of the padayatra are still in the planning stages, political analysts suggest that it could be a two-year-long event that keeps Jagan among the people continuously until the next elections. Despite some criticism, Jagan’s padayatra aims to energize his supporters and rebuild his public image. However, with ongoing corruption-related cases looming over him, the success of the padayatra in regaining public support remains uncertain. This event could be a critical turning point in Andhra Pradesh's political landscape as Jagan gears up for the next round of elections.
