San Ramon Memorial Day Ceremony: Flags, Music & Tribute

San Ramon, California is set to honor the memory and sacrifice of fallen service members with a heartfelt Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 26 at 9 a.m. The commemorative event will take place at San Ramon Memorial Park and is expected to last for about an hour. As part of a longstanding tradition of remembrance, the city invites the community to come together for a meaningful morning filled with music, tribute, and personal reflection.

This year’s ceremony promises to be a moving experience for attendees. The program will feature live patriotic performances by the Olympia Fields Brass, offering stirring renditions that capture the spirit of the occasion. Additionally, San Ramon Academy of Music student Saee Ghate will lend her voice to the event, performing select patriotic songs that honor the courage and dedication of America's military personnel.

Tributes and Community Participation at Memorial Park

A key highlight of the Memorial Day Program is the Commemorative Field of Flags at Memorial Park. This temporary memorial allows residents and guests to actively participate by placing a flag in honor of a loved one who served in the military. Whether it be a fallen service member or a veteran who has passed, this act of remembrance gives people a chance to express gratitude and preserve the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Flag placement will be open from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. on the morning of the ceremony. For individuals who cannot attend in person, the city is offering to place flags on behalf of residents. A form is available on the city’s website for those who wish to request this service. All flags will remain in place until 4:00 p.m. on Monday, giving attendees and passersby ample time to witness the field in its full glory. Guests who wish to collect their placed flag may do so between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m.

This ceremony serves not just as a civic event, but as a powerful reminder of the cost of freedom and the importance of community in honoring those who have served. It also provides an educational opportunity for younger generations to understand the significance of Memorial Day beyond a long weekend.

With patriotic music, emotional tributes, and the silent symbolism of hundreds of small flags waving in the wind, San Ramon’s Memorial Day Program is expected to draw both locals and visitors. The city encourages all residents to take a moment to participate, reflect, and pay their respects in unity. As Memorial Day approaches, San Ramon once again invites its community to remember, honor, and carry forward the legacy of those who served with valor.
